2022 Engage & Mission Schedule

Spark has planned for 2022 Engage status by selecting the missions marked with asterisks to be supported. Each month a particular mission will be highlighted. However, donations are accepted for any of these missions throughout the year to support others locally and globally. Mark your giving envelopes and/or checks to designate a contribution to a given mission. Make all checks payable to Good Shepherd UMC. Thank you for your generous support of people needing assistance around the world.

January/February: Souper Bowl Challenge (Food Pantry)

Advance #982450

This fund will provide direct assistance to those in Ukraine as well as assistance to Ukrainians fleeing to neighboring countries. The United Methodist community in Ukraine, though quite small, is actively engaged in assisting neighbors in need. Global Ministries is in touch with the church’s leadership as well as with church leaders in countries welcoming those who are fleeing from violence in Ukraine.

UMCOR Sunday is March 27!

The U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan created conditions in which many people panicked as an incoming Taliban government caused many Afghans to flee their country out of fear of losing their lives. These evacuees need significant support in order to successfully resettle in the U.S.

They use their Bag Lunch Program as the beginning of a trusting relationship with their clients. NOAH provides case management, wellness counseling, a computer lab, an art program, a quarterly Earn-A- Bike Program, and quarterly dental clinic. The mission of NOAH is to empower low income and homeless Detroiters to achieve stability by serving as the first step on the journey to self-sufficiency.
